Jackie & Steve’s Adventure-Filled Sandy Hook Engagement Session

Location: Sandy Hook, NJ

Highlights: Jackie & Steve’s first date was during Covid so they had a picnic on Sandy Hook. It made perfect sense for us to return to this sentimental spot for their engagement session! We started off by wandering through ruins of abandoned buildings. Our couple told us they weren’t great in front of the camera, but they were so wrong about that. They have such a sweet bond and chemistry and made each other smile and giggle the whole time. They were also super adventurous and let us direct them through ruins and high grass, and had Jackie sit on the ledge of a long destroyed window frame. Our session came to a (very brief) screeching halt when Kamelia accidentally ran over a baby snake with her car. Now if you know Kamelia you know she’s an animal lover. But, she has a major phobia of one animal only - snakes. So she took off running, caught her breath, shook it off, and came back to keep shooting (while scanning the ground periodically the rest of the time to ensure everyone’s safety.) We wanted to pop some champagne and where better to do that than on the seawall with golden hour deepening in the background over the water? Then our adventurous couple jumped OFF the wall and we continued to the spot where they first picnicked. We ended the session with an epic sunset. Jackie and Steve were so much fun to work with and we can’t wait for their (snake-free) wedding!
