Air Force Elopement
Katlyn + Emil • 6.1.21
It’s not every day we get to shoot an Air Force Elopement! When Katlyn first contacted us, she was stationed in overseas with the Air Force and Emil was stationed back here in the US, but nowhere near home. They hadn’t seen each other for months and were eagerly looking forward to being reunited, and of course married!
They chose to have a small ceremony with just their closest family members at Nomahegan Park in Cranford, NJ. It turned out to be an absolutely beautiful day weather-wise, and as soon as we met Emil and saw how nervous and excited he was to see his bride, we knew it was going to be a perfect day. Their first look was so sweet and emotional! We let them have their moment and then we chose a spot for the ceremony. Our couple decided to get married on the bridge over the lake. Reverend Ben gave some great advice and then started the ceremony. Katlyn and Emil wrote their own vows and OMG let me tell you they were doozies. We were all bawling - all of us!
Once our couple said their “I do’s” and kissed, we snapped some photos of them on the bridge and then some with their families. Then we spent time wandering around the park with them, letting them soak in those first moments as husband and wife. We got so many amazing photos and honestly we were feeling all the feels on this one. We ended our session with some photos of our couple’s dog tags and Air Force hats. They met while in training and these items were very important to them and their love story. We know they’ve been through so much time, distance, and difficulties to get to this moment and we know they have the kind of love that’s going to last a lifetime!
